farm.

The Port Cygnet Cannery is no longer operating. Their sister farm' ‘Gardners Bay Farm’ will continue to operate!

The market garden lives on!

Paul and Michelle have generously offered to lease this piece of the farm to Phil and Jim, who are delighted to continue growing on this beautiful little patch of earth.

They will be working to supply local restaurants and build up a weekly veggie box subscription program, so if you’re interested in getting some more delicious, chemical free and nutrient dense veggies in your life please get in touch by:

Drive 10 minutes down the road from the restaurant and you will find more of our team working hard at Gardners Bay Farm - a developing, multi-species, integrated farm. Our farm showcases how efficient and productive a well managed, small scale agricultural system can be. Our extensive market garden and orchard is situated on 2.4 acres and supplies directly and exclusively to the restaurant at Port Cygnet Cannery. Our rotationally grazed cattle and sheep, free range layer chickens and pastured pigs provide fresh, seasonal produce while being norished on beautiful Tasmanian land.

Farm Manager Phil O’Donnell loves the science behind biological farming methods and has integrated a number of methods to nurture the soil, nutrients and production of our fruit and vegetables - without the use of any harmful pesticides or fertilisers.

Our farming decisions are widely influenced and tweaked to work in harmony with the natural ecology of Southern Tasmania. From Permaculture principles to Korean Natural Farming methods, the holistic management between the farm and the restaurant is a collaborative relationship that informs all of our farming choices and benefits from the expert knowledge of our farming team.

Our focus at Gardners Bay Farm is to encourage soil biology and build healthy soils to grow healthy plants that provide nutrient dense, high quality fruits, veg and livestock.

We aim to deliver an interesting and diverse mix of fresh seasonal food. Our organic, biological farming methods help us to build a resilient, regenerative farm ecosystem that will only improve with time.” - Phil O’Donnell, Farm Manager
